Christmas Season!
Merry Christmas Everyone!
Your children are learning about the story of Jesus' birth in the toddler room this month. Last week we looked inside the treasure box to find a small plastic Little People baby. Then the children looked into our Bible to find out why a baby was our clue for the week. They learned that Mary and Joseph traveled far and had Baby Jesus right alongside the animals.
After Bible Time the kids got to use stickers to re-create the scene. Everyone did a great job.
This week we will talk about the birth of Jesus again and why that is so special for us.
Have a great Christmas!

God Made the Food We Eat!
This month of November we will learn that God made the food we eat. Last week, the kids learned that God made vegetables. I tried very hard to put a positive spin on this topic and the kids seemed receptive to it.
This week the toddlers will learn that God made fruit. With the help of our surprise treasure box, the kids will uncover the clue. Then, using our Extra Large Bible, we will discover what the Bible has to say about the clue: that God made fruit, of course.
With the help of some toddler favorite songs, Fruit salad by the Wiggles and Apples & Bananas,we will thank God for giving us the food we eat.
Take a moment this week and discuss with your child where the food we eat comes from. Also, please practice the mealtime prayer before each meal. We do this simple prayer before snacktime in the toddler room.

God Made our Bodies!
Our new unit is God Made our Bodies!
The verses we will be using are Genesis 1:27 and Psalm 139: 13-16. We learned that God made our arms last week with Kristen Inskeep leading our worship time in the toddler room. This week we will focus on our hands and all we can do with them. Isn't God Awesome!

God is Awesome!
In the last two weeks we have learned that God made our ears and our nose! What would we do without those? The toddlers in room 2 learned where our ears are and our noses, and what we can do with those. We talked about listening to the sounds around us and smelling the beautiful flowers God has created.
We are working on learning "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" to help the children remember where our body parts are located. It would be great if families could practice this song with the kids so they will be ready again next week when we learn "God made our mouth".

Sunday August 24th
During our Bible time this week, the toddlers learned that God cares when we are sleeping. We took a moment and read one of my favorite books, "Goodnight Moon" and the children got to hold a twinkling star as we sang "Twinkle Twinkle".
Each child should have taken home a yellow star to remind them of the lesson during the days to come.
This coming Sunday we will wrap up the unit learning that God cares for us all the time. We will use our Bible songs and an exciting activities to help the kids understand that God is always with them and cares for them.
Have a Great Week!

Sunday's Lesson
On August 17th we learned that God cares when we are playing. This is part of the series teaching the children that God cares for us always. The toddlers used their die-cut hands and decorated them with stickers that represented ways they play during the day: dolls, trucks, cars, dress-up etc.
At this age learning to share toys and playing nicely can be a big challenge for your child. Re-directing your child to more appropriate play behavior can be tedious but pays off in the long run. If you sometimes feel frustrated at how many times you have to redirect your child, there are some great resources in our ZPC libray. http://www.zpc.org/content/category/18/40/46/
So this week, take a moment and sit down on the floor with your child and just play, play, play and know that God cares when we play!
See you Sunday!

Childcare available for events
Parents wishing to attend the Jordan reception on August 17th from 4-6pm will be happy to know there will be childcare available during that time.
Also, if you are attending the Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, August 26th from 7-9pm, childcare will be available.
If you know you will be attending either event, we would really appreciate an RSVP. This will ensure that we have an adequate number of childcare providers to take care of the children. If you decide to attend at the last minute, you may still bring your child(ren) to the childcare for that event.
Childcare for each event will be in Room 7. You will sign your child up in that room and recieve your green parent card. Please have your child ready to start when you drop him/her off (clean diaper or just taken to the bathroom, full tummy etc). We will offer only a small snack during those times.
If you have any questions or need to RSVP, please email me at amomdiet@aol.com
Thanks!

God Cares for Us!
Today our Bible lesson focused on waking up each morning and knowing that God cares for us. We talked about waking up and eating our breakfast, brushing our teeth and starting our day knowing that the Lord is with us always.
The month of August we will talk about different ways that God cares for us; when we wake up and start the day, when we are eating, playing and sleeping.
Parents are encouraged to find teachable moments when you can reinforce these concepts with your children. They learn so much faster when they hear the same message over and over.
Thanks everyone and have a great week!

The Rainbow- Let us praise Him and thank Him for His creativity and Care!
Sunday the 27th we learned about the rainbow. We learned that after Noah built the ark and the animals came, it rained for a really long time and then God placed a beautiful rainbow in the sky for Noah.
In the 2s room the kids sat while we learned the story of Noah and then they were able to color the rainbows and take them home to share with their families.
This finishes up our lessons on Noah and next week we will start our theme that God cares for us day and night.
I would love it if you could bring pictures in of your children doing the following:
eating, playing, sleeping, waking up etc.
We will discuss these during the next few weeks and then I'll return your pictures to you.

Town Meeting Childcare Available
Just wanted to let you know, there will be childcare available for the town meeting on Tuesday at ZPC from 7-9pm. Bring your child to room 7 to check-in.
If you could make sure they have eaten dinner before arriving, that would be wonderful. The kids will be offered a snack midway through the evening.
Weather permitting, they may also be taken outside to play on the playground so have them dressed appropriately.
Our childcare providers are ladies that have worked with ZPC and have been trained in our policies and procedures. They will be wearing the photo badges so you can easily recognize them as our childcare providers.
If you have any questions, you can email me at amomdiet@aol.com or call at 371-4021.
Thanks!
Annette

It was a great day at the Beach!
This Sunday in our toddler room we sang our praises to God then learned about Noah and his Ark. The toddlers colored their arks and some even added animal stickers. We had more time at the 11:00 so those kiddos got to paint (if they wanted to) the sea and then attach the ark to make an entire story scene. Amanda lead the story and praise time and did a great job.
Thanks to all the volunteers who made the Sunday go so smoothly and welcomed our new guests into the nursery.

Sunday July 6th Worship- Noah and the Ark
We had a great time today for our Bible lesson!
Along with our songs of praise accompanied by musical instruments, the kids learned about Noah and his obedience to God. We used the visual Fisher Price Noah's Ark and the kids got to put the animals in (2 at a time) and then the kids rode around the room in our wooden Ark (2 at a time). Thanks goes to Mr. Coffman for doing the heavy lifting! and to Noah P. who declared himself "Noah" for our trip around the room.
Thanks everyone!!

Volunteer Photo Badges
Yeah!
After spending the better part of the evening at ZPC on Thursday, the photo badges are complete. If you are a nursery volunteer and have had your picture taken by me, then your photo badge is ready. They will be at the nursery welcome desk in a black wire drawer in alphabetical order. You can pick them up the day your work nursery and return them after your hour of service.
If you have not had your picture taken yet, and you are on the nursery schedule or will be on the new schedule, please take a minute this Sunday to have that done. My daughter wants her camera back.
Thanks everyone for being so patient.

Write the child's name on the back of the picture as well as the pet's name (some of our kiddos are very shy in class); you will get the picture back at the end of class.
Thanks!

Toddler Bible Time
During our summer months we will be focusing on God's gifts of animals (birds, fish, little and big animals). As July approaches (quickly) we will learn about Noah and the Ark. Your toddler may come home singing "Who Built the Ark..."
Our Bible time in Room 2 on Sunday mornings starts with learning what the Bible is (We sing to "Pat the Bible" and then talk about who loves us (Jesus loves us!). Afterwards we pass out musical instruments to each child which they shake, rattle, and rock'in roll to our Bible songs.
With the instruments put away, we talk about our Bible lesson for the day and do a short craft or coloring page. Then its SNACK TIME preceeded by prayer for the food that God has provided for us.
We really have a great time!
